Burlington Debuts New Capsule Collections Featuring Bio-based Chemistries

Charlotte, NC – Burlington, a leader of fabric innovation for more than 100 years, is proud to announce the launch of five new fabric capsules each with a specific focus on sustainable design and performance. Fabrics feature Burlington’s next level PF Zero™ non-fluorocarbon-based water and stain-repellent finish and newest MCS®Renew bio-based moisture management technology.

The new Fabric Capsules will be introduced and available to explore at the Functional Fabric Fair in Portland April 17-18, Burlington Booth (704).

“Burlington continues in its quest to bring new sustainable performance and advanced functionality for active lifestyles,” said Andrew Hicks, Director Performance & Barrier Fabrics. “Our new capsule collections bring the next level of sustainable materials and bio-based chemistries together to create the ultimate high-performance and easy-care fabrics for performance apparel.”

At the center of Burlington’s newest collections are its bio-based chemistries. PF Zero™ technology is an eco-friendly non-fluorocarbon-based water and stain-repellant finish that is 60% bio-based for greater sustainability and circularity. First introduced in 2021, PF Zero™ allows for continued innovation in advanced fabric performance across a broad range of fabric constructions.

MCS®Renew is the next generation of Burlington’s longstanding MCS® family of advanced technologies providing a sustainable, bio-based moisture management technology that allows moisture to dissipate or move rapidly across the fabric. MCS®Renew is a USDA BioPreferred product and contains nearly 80% biocarbon content that reduces reliance on petrochemicals and can be applied to any polyester, nylon and synthetic blend fabric.

“Creating new fabrics stemming from renewable sources is a cornerstone of Burlington’s development efforts,” said Kiarash Arangdad, Director Emerging Chemistries for Burlington. “Our newest bio-based technologies advance Burlington’s commitment to sustainable design with the use of carbon neutral materials with lower environmental impact creating a more responsible performance driven fabric.”
